Lorain County expects about 45 421 voters to cast ballots in Tuesday's primary under mostly sunny skies. Elections director Joan Leyshon based the forecast on 46 percent of registered voters, with 98 652 eligible to vote after minor registration changes.
Rockets and jets hit Beirut as leftist Muslims and Palestinian allies accused Syrian troops of advancing from east Lebanon under air cover. Eyewitnesses saw MIGs and Hawker Hunters, with Palestinian PLA units touring Moslem districts. Reports claimed Syrian naval actions and clashes along the Damascus-Beirut highway amid a deadly, widening conflict.
United Press International reports on the eve of the 1976 presidential primaries as California, Ohio, and New Jersey hold near one third of needed delegates.
