Putin warns on arming allies and nuclear options
President Vladimir Putin warned that Russia could arm allies to strike Western targets in response to NATO support for Ukraine. He reiterated Russia’s readiness to use nuclear weapons if sovereignty is threatened and warned that Western actions risk “very serious problems” for international security. He spoke at the St Petersburg International Economic Forum, saying Moscow could respond asymmetrically and noting U.S. arms provided to Ukraine are not controlled by Washington. He also said no change in Russia U S relations is expected regardless of the U.S. presidential outcome.
