Little League clashes show hits not guarantees of wins

In a night of varied results Elyria Little League teams faced surprising outcomes as more base hits did not ensure victories. West division saw Bellamy's Cities Serve lose despite eight hits to six for Eagles, while UPC beat Ridgeview 16 to 3 behind Sam Carpenter's 10 strikeouts. Hopkins dazzled for VFW, fanning 16 in a 4-0 shutout of B and B, and Wilbur Lew 18 contributed three hits for UPC in their win over Ridgeview. Other notable performances included Bellamy's Stan Stalla limiting walks after eight hits, and Stewart Appliance beating Toggery 4-2 on Corley's two-run homer.
