Virginia Oliphant Entangled With Two Men In Annapolis

An auction at the Oliphant home in Annapolis exposes Virginia to two suitors, Tony Bleecker and Michael McMillan, as her rich and weary family travels west. Tony courts her while Virginia leans toward Michael, amid social pressures from Tony’s mother and her brother Rickey, with Richard drawn to Marty Van Duyne. Virginia’s shifting affections unfold through dinners, boat rides, and a suitor’s promise of lessons, ending with an American city departure and thoughts of a future in New York.
