Ridgeville residents discuss flood insurance map change
North Ridgeville residents gathered at the public library to review the citys revised FEMA flood plain map approved May 28, which reduces the number of flood plain residences by 186. Some save $600 to $700 yearly, while others may save over $1,600, as officials cite four years of effort and improvements to the water system including a widened detention basin and ditch cleaning. Mayor Deanna Hill credited Congressman Sherrod Brown for fast FEMA approval and noted grant-funded upgrades aided the process. Residents seek to avoid flood insurance costs when loaning.
