Railing reps fault system as Conrail takeover looms

Elyria and Lorain County lawmakers told the U S Surface Transportation Board that relief for communities facing the Conrail merger is uneven. Congressman Gillmor said standards are arbitrary and some towns are left out while the board is set to approve Norfolk Southern and CSX control. Kucinich said Norfolk Southern will pay 44 million to divert trains away from Bay Village Lakewood and Rocky River toward North Ridgeville Elyria.

Suspect in bank robberies sought in Ohio region

The man, Louis Martin Cillo, 41, already wanted on probation terms from prior bank robberies, is the focus of a manhunt in eastern Lorain and western Cuyahoga counties. An FBI spokesman says Cillo, who lived in Sheffield Township in 1981, may live near the banks he is suspected of robbing this year. Federal arrest warrants were issued for the May 18 robberies of National City Bank on North Abbe Road and Fifth Third Bank at Finast Friendly Market in Avon Lake.

Aldi Cereal Linked to Salmonella Outbreak Wide Recall Issued

The CDC says Millville Toasted Oats cereal sold exclusively at Aldi is the likely source of a salmonella outbreak across 11 states with nearly 200 illnesses and 40 hospitalizations. Aldi has recalled and removed the Malt-O-Meal product from all 505 stores.
