Wil lard Brenneman of the Elyria Kiwanis Club endured a strawberry pie in a stunt to promote the Strawberry Festival set for June 16 from 4 to 9 p.m. at the American Legion Hall on Ohio Street. Kiwanis will offer strawberries shortcake hot dogs and sloppy joes with tickets at 1 for adults and 50 cents for children under six, proceeds fund club projects. Alex Burnett staged the pie throwing and Brenneman quipped about willing publicity.

Bank Robber Strikes Elyria Savings Branch In LaGrange
FBI will release film of a rifle wielding masked bandit who robbed the Elyria Savings and Trust National Bank branch in LaGrange Square yesterday. Loot under 10000 dollars. The suspect, about 30 to 35, six feet tall, 200 pounds, wore a dark trench coat and used a blue 1969 Chevrolet to flee past a police car with no injuries reported.
