Maxi-cab project offers urban bus alternative in Flint
In Flint Michigan a government backed maxi cab experiment aims to reduce car use by delivering workers from doorstep to plant door. The program run by the Flint Transportation Authority serves 16 routes and carries 300 to 400 daily, supported by DOT funding totaling about 58000 dollars toward a plan projected to cost around 1.2 million. Officials envision Dial-A-Bus options and in-route radio signals to speed service as workers test a car free commute.
