Indians Outlast White Sox In 14 Inning Victory At Cleveland

Jose Vidal hit his second homer of the season to lift the Indians 3-2 over Chicago in 14 innings at Municipal Stadium. Hal Kurtz earned his first major league win with five scoreless innings of relief, as Willie Smith and Vic Davalillo sparked a ninth inning rally to force extras. The marathon included 37 players, with Alvis leaving after a collision and Tiant set to face Peters the next night.

Fremont names Shuff as new Ross football coach

Charles Shuff, 28, named head football coach at Fremont Ross High School on Friday. He succeeds John Behiling after a stormy one year. Shuff arrives from Oak Harbor with an 8-2- season last fall and a 16-13-1 record over three Oak Harbor seasons. He has been Warren Harding assistant and Cincinnati GA. He played varsity football at Mount Vernon under Ben Wilson.

Drysdale aims for record scoreless streak and shutouts

Don Drysdale of the Dodgers can break Carl Hubbell's 46 1 3 inning scoreless streak tonight against the Pirates in Los Angeles. With 45 straight innings, he could set a major league record by six consecutive shutouts. The potential asterisk lingered from the previous game.
