Avon’s Higgins Favored in County Decathlon Showdown
Avon’s Mike Higgins seeks to become the second man to win back-to-back Lorain County Decathlons as action opens Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Midview High. The two-day event includes a pole vault prelim and a $2 adult, $1 student admission with free entry for grade schoolers with a parent. Higgins won last year’s title with 5,962 points, with Elyria Catholic’s Ron Traut and Elyria High’s Chris Gubon among early challengers.
