North Ridgeville council set 8 p.m. Monday meeting to discuss city refuse collection and sewer line operation with county lines. Mayor Noll noted dumping at city hall bins and warned fines. debate over county sewer plants follows flooding concerns and staff shortages.
Public hearings set for July 14 in city hall on a privacy fence ordinance and on adding R-3 and R-4 apartment classifications to the city code. The fence rule would cap fences at six feet with a four foot gate and expand open-area requirements.

North Ridgeville sixth graders at Wilcox Elementary built a sealed pickle jar aquarium to demonstrate a self-sustaining micro community. The jar holds sand plants snails and guppies. one guppy died while another gave birth to 11 young. a snail reproduced, illustrating cycles of life and photosynthesis.
Mayor Richard Noll told council that streets and surface drainage departments need staff with pay and benefits detailed. He urged residents to cut residential lots from June to September to curb weeds and hazards while reporting May building permits totaling 38 with 23 dwelling permits and a construction value of 502000. fees collected were 28065.

The council approved a five person recreation department pay scale with monthly salaries of 60 for Olympic director 50 for umpire supervisor and playground director 15 for women s physical education director and 30 for men s physical education director The plan notes none work a full year and salaries are in the department budget A non expiring fire department mutual aid contract was approved covering North Ridgeville and parts of Lorain Erie Huron and Cuyahoga counties with exceptions Elyria Lorain and others Notable inclusions North Olmsted Olmsted Township Wakeman Florence Berlin Heights and Huron The towns agree to send aid when needed and officials may decline if assistance creates a hazard to their own communities Other actions include sidewalk assessments at Rt 20 Jaycox Road and city hall roof repairs for 2250 and approval to route a 945000 volt power line through the city with CEI rights of way Evergreen Boulevard to be studied for city street status and compliance with city standards The last item notes 65 trichinosis cases in 1969 in Atlanta
