Levy For Bond Retirement To Be Reduced In 0.3 Mills

A cloudburst dumped 13 inches of water on Galveston Island in eight hours. Water stood three feet deep or more in streets and ground floors of many businesses and residences. Charles A Dolan a longtime Cleveland clothing merchant and real estate investor died at his home at age 84. A Ravenna native, he moved to Cleveland early, joined McWatters and Dolan in 1897, then managed Browning and King's stores in 1900 before shifting to real estate in 1927.

Shoplifter Sentenced To Marysville Reformatory
Melgie Lee Jones, 34, arrested April 21 for shoplifting, was sentenced by Judge D A Cook to a Marysville reformatory for women to serve an indeterminate term for grand larceny. She pleaded guilty, said she arrived from Cincinnati seeking work, and was arrested with a Toledo woman, Elizabeth Officer. Two Nottingham High Students Drown as Boat Capsizes
In Syracuse New York two 17 year old girls Joan Venton and Margaret Garafalo died when an outboard motorboat capsized on Panther Lake in Oswego County. Three companions escaped with their lives including Marcella Buckley 17 Angela Ressamang 18 both of Nottingham High School and Robert Conine 20 of Syracuse. Conine was operating the boat when it sprang a leak and sank 75 feet from shore.
