Baseball Roundup With Tripleheader Slugfest Notes
A chaotic baseball recap covers multiple games and heavy scoring. The Yankees crushed opponents with power as Johnson and others struggled, Benrougn drove in runs, Combs delivered a decisive double with bases loaded, and a Tigers-Indians doubleheader opened lopsided. Ty Cobb starred in the second game with four hits, while Cleveland’s pitching held opponents to limited hits. The Braves split their twin bill behind strong hitting, Brooklyn slid past Petty, and the Cubs were shelled by the Reds in another rout. Hornsby and Wilson led New York’s win in a tight opener, though Willoughby outpitched them in the follow-up.
