Bus depot moves to Lorain from Sheffield
Lorain will gain a First Student Inc. bus depot relocating 1.6 miles from 3747 Colorado Ave to 1800 Colorado Ave on June 25, with 168 jobs moved. The 15,000-square-foot facility will be replaced by a similar size depot repurposed for a trucking operation, housing a 101-bus fleet and updated offices. Mayor Chase Ritenauer says no tax incentives or city negotiations were involved. First Student operates 650 locations nationwide transporting about 6 million students daily, including about 3,000 in Lorain County.
