Highway 27 safety gains praised by residents
Millville residents say years of fatalities on US 27 have spurred public officials to act. The state and Butler County widened lanes and added shoulders, improving a dangerous 14.2 mile stretch near Oxford and Ross Township where 17 year old Judy Harbin died in 1986. Activists placed 86 crosses at crash sites to honor victims and push for further safety measures. officials note fatalities dropped from about four annually to zero, though concerns remain about truck traffic near Miami University.
