Man kills self to avoid contempt of court hearing
John Bergman, 51, of Elyria, shot himself in his attic to dodge a contempt of court hearing set by Judge A. R. Webber. He had been ordered to pay alimony and split property after a 1929 divorce. deputies found him with a nailed gun and a plank setup, a bullet through his heart.
