Self performed C section earns global awe in isolated Mexico
Ines Ramirez Perez, alone in a one room cabin in southern Mexico, delivered her baby by cutting into her own abdomen after hours of labor. With no anesthesia and no help, she pulled the infant from her uterus and survived. Doctors later confirmed the remarkable event and photographed the procedure before reporting it to a medical meeting. The baby, Orlando Ruz Ramirez, is now a rambunctious four year old. The story is documented in the International Journal of Gynecology and Obstetrics.
