Index Auto Output Drops as Production Slows
The Index fell 0.2 percent from the prior week while Auto production declined 2.7 percent as plants reduced schedules to stabilize this month. Early month output was high to offset April disturbances. Energy components rose with crude runs up 1.6 percent and electric power up 1.3 percent. Paperboard slid 1.3 percent. Surface transport mixed with intercity truck tonnage down 2.0 percent and other carloadings down 1.1 percent while miscellaneous carloadings rose 1.0 percent.

Avon Laker Receives Promotion to Port Commerce Director Aide
C Thomas Burke of Avon Lake has been promoted to Assistant to the Director of Port Commerce at the World Trade Authority.
