Three Japanese midget subs believed destroyed in Sydney raid
In a general communique General Douglas MacArthur said three two man midget submarines were believed destroyed in a Pearl Harbor style raid on Sydney Harbor. One was sunk by gunfire and two by depth charges. The raid damaged no military targets, but sent shock waves through the harbor area as air and naval units attacked.

Charles Burmbutis of 249 West Hiver Street was fined 60 and costs and had his driving license suspended for six months after being charged with driving while intoxicated. He was arrested after a collision at Ledi Street and West Avenue with Carl Diedrick of 701 Foster Avenue. Andrew Warhola of Lorain was also arrested for DUI at 2:30 a.m. on W Broad Street and is to be arraigned Friday.
