Diplomas And Pins Awarded To 7 Nurses

Seven student nurses graduated from the S. B. Johnson School of Nursing at Elyria Memorial Hospital. Diplomas and pins were handed to each nurse at commencement in Elks Hall as Dr. Paul B. Sears urged them to blend knowledge with common sense and good character for civic service.

Attempted Burglaries Reported On Kaiser Court Homes

Investigators investigated several Kaiser Court residences after an alleged burglar who stole a revolver four tents and a flashlight from the Finnegan home on Lodi street. Witnesses reported attempted entries at Wells and others, with a bundle of newspapers taken from Tracy’s porch and scattered.

Open House at Elyria Y Camp Sunday

Fire destroys Griffin home on Route 58 near Whiskyville

Firefighters arrived at 11 45 p.m. to battle a blaze that gutted the Griffin home one mile south of Whiskyville on Route 58. Fire Chief Jake Wilhelm said the attic chimney started the fire. Two farm workers occupied the house, later returning to bed after lighting a coal stove. Property owned by Mr Kelch of Oberlin.

Elyria And Lorain Men Set Apart To The Ministry

In a First Baptist church service, Guy Byars of 325 Gulf street Elyria and Louis Gasper of 2300 East 32nd street Lorain were set apart to the gospel ministry. An examining council elected Rev. Ewing Walters as moderator and Rev. E. Fred Jones as clerk and deemed the candidates well qualified. Gasper, just graduated from Moody Bible Institute, will become pastor of Lawndale Baptist church in Chicago. Brars plans to move to Elyria Aug 1 for Mexican gospel mission work in Phoenix, Arizona. The ordination sermon was by Rev. Wesley S. Dissettte. charges by Rev. H. K. Finley. prayer by Rev. B. Davidson. fellowship from Rev. E. Fred Jones. Local church members joined in prayers and Scripture reading on the platform. The First Baptist church has long sent members into gospel ministry and foreign service with ongoing missionary support. Ladies of the church later served dinner to visitors.
