Suspect arrested in shooting at Elyria bar
Ronald Johnson, 20, of Elyria, was charged with complicity murder in the shooting death of Caree Cannon, 24, at Bailey's Bar Grille on West River Road. Cannon died at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center after lifecare transported him. Oberlin non profit installs solar panels to cut bills
Oberlin Community Services powered Friday by a 39 kilowatt solar array installed on its roof. The project cost 75482 and is expected to supply about 92 percent of annual energy, cutting monthly electrical bills to under $800 and reducing carbon emissions by 36.5 tons yearly. The funding came from Sustainable Reserve Fund and Green EDGE Fund with local and college support.

Former attorney sentenced for theft in Lorain County
Elyria man Thomas McGuire 46 surrendered his law license after felony theft charges and other client crimes. He pleaded guilty to a felony theft charge in Lorain County Common Pleas Court, was sentenced to two days in Lorain County Jail and ordered to pay $5,322 restitution and court costs within a year. He will be supervised by the Adult Probation Department until his sentence is served, then released if compliant. Three tampering with records counts were dismissed.

Lorain moves to declare Bruce Towers at 5001 to 5003 Oberlin Ave a public nuisance over unsanitary conditions and high crime. If successful the two building 46 unit property could close and owners may owe tenant relocation costs. Ohio Multifamily LLC owns the site, listed for about 1.8 million and built as a mid 1960s hotel, now about 93 percent occupied.

ODNR probes illegal sale of sport fish in Elyria
Ohio Division of Natural Resources investigators executed a search warrant at 825 Hollywood Drive Elyria and seized a boat a pickup truck fishing tackle and related equipment as part of a yearlong probe into the illegal catching and sale of sport fish. Investigations manager Jeff Collingwood said the case targets commercialization of illegally taken sport fish.
