Ohio moving ahead with Route 57 reconfiguration near 49th Street
ODOT officials and local leaders gathered at a Ramada Inn parking lot to celebrate progress on widening Route 57 from four to six lanes and removing the 49th Street bridge. Groundbreaking is planned for spring next year as funding and approvals advance.

Police arrest Elyria man linked to drug dealer alias Rico
After months of investigation Elyria police raided a Clark Street residence around 730 AM Tuesday arresting 28 year old Jonathon Steele known as Rico on four counts of heroin trafficking possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia. A 37 year old friend Yona Mills faced related heroin trafficking and paraphernalia charges.

Drunk father lets 12-year-old drive before arrest
Elyria police stopped a green Chevrolet near Spruce Street and Woodland Avenue after witnesses reported reckless driving. The 12-year-old boy was behind the wheel with his father Scott Staron in the passenger seat. Staron, 37, smelled of alcohol and admitted he was drunk and needed work tools down the street. He was charged with endangering children and disorderly conduct by intoxication. Children Services was contacted to review the boy’s welfare.

Emmy winning designer Ken Johnson dead at 80
North Ridgeville native Ken Johnson an Emmy winning TV set designer and art director died Friday in Palm Springs California at age 80. He worked on Rowan & Martin's Laugh In WKRP in Cincinnati and Bosom Buddies among other programs. His brother Keith Johnson of Vermilion recalled his colorful life. Kathleen Townsend a niece in Georgia confirmed the family details.
