Lorain Defers Pay as Firefighters Rally Opposition
Lorain plans to defer two weeks of hourly workers pay to save 500000 for the General Fund. Firefighters union president John George says there was no dialogue with unions and salaried staff are exempt. Lorain officer faces month long suspension for text barrage
Lorain Police Patrolman John Kovach 43 faces a month without pay from Sunday through Sept. 1 for contacting a domestic dispute caller for personal reasons. An internal probe found Kovach sent 103 text messages after an earlier call and lied about the extent of contact. He was given a last chance with a requirement for psychiatric evaluation and could be fired if the offense recurs.

Lorain cops seek trio in shoplifting spree at A J Wright
Police request public help identifying three thieves who stole clothing and shoes from A J Wright in separate incidents this week. Surveillance shows one man wearing green pants and a green shirt exit Meister Road store after a security officer chased him at about 4 pm Tuesday. Earlier, two younger women were filmed taking clothes from a rack inside the same store.
