Softball coach Bob Slovak retires after 30 years
NORTH RIDGEVILLE coach Bob Slovak ends a 30 year tenure with the Ponytail Majors League girls team at Shady Drive complex. His final game will be at 6:15 p m as he passes on a program shaped by two generations of players including his daughter Morgan Leach. He plans clinics next year to help players improve their skills.

Bay Village firefighter honored at West Shore golf outing
About 100 emergency responders from five area departments attended the WESHARE Dr. Brian McNamara Memorial Golf Outing at Dorlon Golf Club in Columbia Station. The event, sponsored by North Ridgeville Firefighters Local 2129, celebrated McNamara who died in the ER and praised cross-county medical collaboration. Also honored was Matt Linder, a Bay Village firefighter who died of a heart attack.
