In Pittsfield Township Ohio a mock bus crash behind Lorain County Joint Vocational School drew 300 participants from four counties 11 districts and 10 fire departments. The six hour exercise used a junked bus and donated cars to sharpen responders skills with no injuries reported.
Bud Ward and his wife lost a three wheeled scooter during a Lorain boat tour. A Lorain police dive team recovered the scooter submerged and beyond repair. A Vermilion woman offered to donate a replacement scooter to the 73 year old.
Elyria Lorain County Recorder Judy Nedwick forced chief deputy Phil Betleski to resign after confronting him about a Seattle vacation taken while she also was away. Betleski says the vacation was planned and paid. Nedwick notes he left the office unattended and aims to fill the post at about $62,000 with a new appointee.
United Way groups in Northeast Ohio plan to hire a consultant to streamline operations and save money. The focus is on shared services like marketing and events planning, not a regional merger. No job cuts expected. about 100000 in grant funding will pay the consultant.
