Arias Evidence Ties Counselor to Assaults in Elyria Case

Prosecutors presented a taped call between an alleged victim and Manuel Arias, a 44 year old former outreach counselor, who faces two counts of rape one count of sexual battery three counts of kidnapping and four counts of gross sexual imposition. He denies all allegations and questions DNA on a victim’s sock. Arias refuses a lie detector test citing 93 percent accuracy. Trial scheduled before Judge Lynett M. McGough. Man charged after hitting dog with concrete in Elyria

Ronald W. Smith 34 of East Broad Street arrested after striking a 2 year old Black Labrador Chow mix named T Bone with a loose concrete piece. He asked neighbors about barking dogs and threatened to "take care of them" before the attack. Frank Thomas owns the dog.
