Rocky River Mayor’s Texaco project blends ingenuity and risk

Rocky River Mayor Earl Martin and designer Scott Maurer transformed a costly Texaco site into a 12,500 square foot office retail complex. The project, completed this summer, repurposed a 1,500 square foot gas station with terraced parking and two to three story sections. The investment exceeded 1 million dollars driven by Texaco purchase costs and adjacent properties. Tenants include Chandler's and Chandler Realty. Martin, a Rocky River native, notes the venture is a gamble while eyeing further development along Center Ridge Road which Maurer plans to back with a 25 million dollar 25,000 square foot building on the remnants of the old bridge. The mayor reflects that only time will tell if the project pays off.
