Britain to Build Up Air Force to 1304 Planes in Four Years
BALDWIN of Al FORCE 10 BE BUILT UP BALDWIN of Al FORCE 10 BE BUILT UP BLUNLETIA- LONDON, July 30. Ominous preparations for the next war were revealed in the House of Commons today when Stanley Baldwin announced Britain's plans for building up her air force as part of an imperial defense plan. The air force will be built up over four years from 44 to 1304 planes, an increase of 460 fighting ships. The civilian population will be drilled for defense against air raids and the acting prime minister virtually sanctioned Germanys right to re-arm. He indicated an expectation of another war though not in the immediate future, and said 47,000,000 civilians would soon be engaged in rehearsal for protection against air raids. The next steps will involve communicating instructions to local authorities and public utilities. The new force would compare with 1450 planes in France, about 1400 in the Soviet Union, and 1950 in the United States.
