Amish Population Grows as Settlements Expand Across Americas
A study by Elizabethtown College finds the Amish population rising nearly 10 percent in two years to 249,000 with settlements in 28 states and Ontario. Growth is strongest in New York Minnesota Missouri Wisconsin and Illinois, while South Dakota becomes the newest state. The research excludes motorized groups and notes Amish life centers on horse drawn transportation plain dress and limited technology.

The 2010 Wakeman Fire Festival featured a 5K run with 61 finishers. Danielle Sidell won the overall race in 16 minutes 51 seconds, while Andrew Taylor placed second in 17 minutes 42 seconds.
