Nursing Homes Charged With Dead Patient Payments
Government investigators found California nursing homes continued Medicaid and Medicare payments after patients died or were discharged. In 12 of 76 cases, homes received payments for the same patients under both programs. The GAO said procedures have been tightened to stop improper payments.
