Bond Sought in Fatal Case of Roy Owens Jr
Roy Owens Jr. faces a $10 million bond as his aggravated murder case advances in Elyria. A competency evaluation was ordered by Judge Lisa Locke Graves after defense concerns about Owens’s mental health following the alleged beating and stabbing of Linnea Satterfield. Owens, 56, was found in Darke County near Dayton after authorities linked signs of a struggle at his Elyria home. Police say he attempted suicide twice, first by cutting his wrists and later in custody by hanging. Satterfield’s body was found in the trunk of Owens’s 2001 Buick LeSabre.

Firefighters rescue woman after boa constrictor attack
Sheffield Lake firefighters cut the head off a pet boa constrictor that wrapped around a 45-year-old East Lake Road woman's neck and bit her face. The woman, later taken to hospital with non life threatening injuries, owned 11 snakes and said another boa was in a cage.

Two 14-year-olds charged in Turning Point incident
Lorain County sheriff reports two 14-year-olds face reported incident charges after a teen at the Turning Point shelter said three residents pressured him to perform oral sex in a truth or dare game. They allegedly hit him. the 15-year-old did not participate. Victim told staff July 18. Both 14-year-olds deny the accusations and remain detained.
