Hospital to appeal $50,000 AIDS rumor ruling
Lawrence County Medical Center plans to appeal a 50 000 jury award to Bobby C McCoy in an invasion of privacy case alleging hospital staff spread AIDS rumors. The jury also recommended a public apology and heard two days of testimony from McCoy and attorneys.

Toledo school board chief charged with sexual relations with teen
Thomas Wilson 42, president of the Washington Local School Board and Lucas County Sheriff’s chief deputy, is charged with two counts of contributing to the unruliness of a minor. He allegedly took a Whitmer High School student to a Toledo area hotel on two occasions and had sex with her once at 16 and again after she turned 17. He turned himself in and was released on his own recognizance. No trial date set. He is on leave from the deputy post.

Cleveland Sailor Earns Medal for Harbor Rescue Off Chile
Petty Officer 3rd Class Richard R. Schafrick 22 earned the Navy and Marine Corps Medal for diving into 48 degree water off the Straits of Magellan to save Seaman Ernest S. Pickett 22 and another sailor after a man overboard incident from the destroyer John King. A rescue helicopter assisted as Schafrick freed Pickett from the hoist wire and aided the second sailor.
