Free shuttle service to air show offered
Elyria Lorain County Transit will provide a no charge shuttle during the Confederate Air Show at Lorain County Airport. Shuttles run every 15 minutes August 4 and 5 from noon to 7 p.m. They transport passengers from free parking at Lorain County garage on 42100 Russia Road to the airport about a mile away.

Carl G. Gray 29 of West Drive was arraigned in Avon municipal court on aggravated burglary intimidation of a witness domestic violence and assault charges. He pleaded innocent to the domestic violence and assault misdemeanors. A preliminary hearing is set for Aug 2. Gray also faces a separate rape case from January and remains in jail on $35000 cash bond.

The Ninth District Court of Appeals unanimously denied Pamela K. Robertson's appeal of four involuntary manslaughter convictions from a 1988 two car crash at Oberlin Avenue and West 14th Street in Lorain. The ruling kept four 2 to 10 year prison terms and permanent license suspension.

A 24 year old Deborah A. Oberg of Lakewood died when her motorcycle collided with a Norfolk Southern train near Myrtle Hill Road and Route 303 in Valley City. The rider, Michael G. Levasseur, 21, of Brunswick, was in critical condition at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland. The accident occurred about 2 30 a m near the Chessie railroad crossing as they traveled southbound and struck the 47th car of the train.

Lorain men face trafficking charges in Mansfield arrest
Three Lorain men James Hembree 31 Lonnie Hembree 40 and Jeffrey Shorts 31 were jailed on 2500 cash bonds and await arraignment on felony drug trafficking charges after Ohio State Highway Patrol stopped their car at I 71 and Route 97 for a stop sign violation. Police found 1800 grams of marijuana and Shorts was charged also with carrying a concealed weapon after a handgun was found on the car floorboard.

An 18 or 19 year old youth was arrested by Oberlin Police for attempted rape of a North Pleasant Street woman. He is held at Lorain County Detention Home awaiting juvenile court hearing. Charged with attempted rape aggravated burglary gross sexual imposition and assault. The victim awoke to a man beside her bed and fought him off. The intruder entered via a window screen after standing on a garbage can.
