Amherst schools still need levy despite lottery funds

Amherst Ohio officials say lottery money will help but cannot offset a 4.3 mill operating levy. Tim Logar notes $60 000 to $70 600 possible, limited to capital improvements, asbestos abatement, instructional computers and textbooks. The board must plan use and forward to the state. ballots previously failed for 4.9 mill emergency levy.

Amherst Township cites sign on Leavitt Rd

Amherst Township filed a complaint in Oberlin Municipal Court against George Vagotis of Georgia Mills Carpets Leavitt Road over a sign in the road right of way without a permit. Zoning inspector Jack Smith said the citation was issued June 14 and Vagotis has not responded. a court date will be set.
