Downtown parking plan moves toward rollout in Oberlin
Oberlin officials press ahead with a two hour downtown parking limit during business hours and no limit after 6 p.m except for few 30 minute spaces for late night venues. Signs are going up as the plan, spurred by 94 tickets on April 14, takes shape amid council summer meetings and Rogers Fermitech talks. Public hearings on the Community Development Block Grant Jobs Act process are Aug 1 and Aug 8 at City Hall.

Voters to decide 2 mill road levy in Sheffield Lake
Sheffield Lake Council approved a 2 mill five year road levy for the November ballot to fund construction, resurfacing and repair of 58 miles of streets. The plan is expected to raise about $123,638 yearly with $101,000 from gasoline tax and $60,000 for three road department staff, equipment, salt and related costs. Council debated permanence versus five year duration and noted state law prevents shifting funds from other departments.
