Silver Slippers: A Holiday of Sacrifice and Secrets
In a wealthy household, Joan Dudley extends generosity and warmth during Christmas as gifts, tender memories, and family bonds shape the day. Amidst domestic scenes, Joan’s worry about love and aging deepens. Giles Armitage plots to win or deter her, while a doctor proposes a plan to restore Amelie’s memory and rekindle past joys, setting up a drama of devotion, social power, and impending choices.

Salt Lake City Sees Record High Salt Density
Great Salt Lake has grown saltier than in 19 years. Chief J Cecil Alter of the local weather bureau notes drought has lowered water levels while salt content remains high at 28 percent. Previously high density occurred in 1849 1850 1903 and 1965. The piece likens education to a horse with two faults—hard to eat and useless when caught.
