Edward Thomas, a survivor, sues Letita Patrick over the 2009 Ohio Turnpike crash that killed two children Jamel El-Armin and Alexia Patrick. The suit seeks over 25,000 in damages for injuries Thomas sustained and 20,000 from Victoria Fire and Casualty for uninsured coverage. Patrick faces criminal charges including aggravated vehicular homicide. Patrick reportedly drove 88 to 103 mph in a minivan that struck a PT Cruiser driven by Jose Arzuaga.
Berdell Franklin, 40, was sentenced to three years probation after pleading guilty to theft and drug possession for taking money and drugs from 28 year old Jason Smith who had been shot during a botched robbery. She also must enter drug treatment. A warrant was issued when she missed a prior sentencing.
