Amherst Old Spring cleanup revives historic water site
Volunteers and city workers cleaned Amherst Old Spring and surrounding park behind City Hall on Milan Avenue. Despite ongoing testing, officials plan to verify drinking safety as they installed a drainage catch basin, taps two springs, and added benches and picnic areas. The site also features ruins of an old brewery and sandstone arches from the 1930s.
