Lorain Relay for Life defies heat drawing large turnout
In Lorain at Black River Landing the sixth annual Relay for Life drew about 1,000 participants despite 90 plus degree heat. Mary Ann Campana reported about 250 volunteers and several hundred survivors across 75 to 85 purple clad teams. The event began at noon and runs overnight to 9 a.m. with sprinklers and air conditioned depots to cool attendees. One elderly spectator was taken by ambulance after feeling faint.
