Elyria chooses Ely Stadium site for high school

Elyria school officials selected Ely Stadium as the new high school site after debate over viability of other options. Trustees plan a 43 mill bond over 30 years with a campaign kickoff Sept. 12 and aim to open the school with a ribbon cutting, pledging a reality beyond a dream.

Mundorf to Leave Elyria School Board Reflects Move Outward

Elyria school board member Kenneth Mundorf announced at Tuesday’s meeting he is relocating from the district and will not seek re election. He and his wife bought a lot in the Midview district to build a home, ending his four year Elyria term at year end. Mundorf, 63, spent 35 years in Elyria Schools and was elected to the board in 1997. His seat and Evelyn France’s are up for November elections.

Heat drives outages. power restored for many in Oberlin

FirstEnergy reported a downed wire caused outages on Faumhart Road with 3,000 of 3,500 customers in Oberlin restored by 10:30 am. Highs reached 98 degrees Tuesday. future forecast calls for lower 80s and mid 70s with scattered thunderstorms possible through Sunday.
