Storms Hit Eastern United States Across Plains to Coast
The Associated Press reports showers and thunderstorms moving along a slowly advancing cold front from the Plains to the East Coast. Unusually low temperatures lingered in the northern states as storms scattered from Ohio to Tennessee toward the Atlantic. In Ohio near Millersburg high wind gusts felled trees and power lines, while east-central Nebraska saw hail up to golf ball size west of Fremont. Additional activity spanned from northern Missouri to eastern South Dakota and along the Gulf and southern Atlantic Coasts with heavy rain in north central West Virginia during the night.
