Old Gold Coast May Be Slum In Future
Chicago planners warn the Gold Coast district around Lincoln Park and along the lakefront could decline as apartment towers draw young families to the suburbs. Architects say crowding, higher vacancy, and influx of transients threaten the once prestigious area. Wilmette and Evanston suburbs face encroachment as suburbs expand and rents fall, potentially reshaping Chicago’s north shore and central neighborhoods.

Jewish Council Aids Thousands in New York
The National Council of Jewish Women marked its 23rd anniversary with plans for the November 1829 triennial convention in Los Angeles drawing many of its 57,900 members. The group, formed at the world’s fair era, has long aided immigrant women and girls and now organizes rural women through a farm and rural work department offering English, citizenship, child welfare and social hygiene classes. A floating mail sack using cork is proposed by the Palestine post authorities.
