Quiet quilters keep alive a cherished craft in Elyria
In Elyria at First United Methodist Church an upstairs room hosts the Monday Morning Quilters. Since 1988 this group of women produces quilts by hand, with Mary Fowls and Lucille Guthrie among longtime members. They completed 16 quilts between 1992 and last December and fundraise for Habitat for Humanity, the Salvation Army, Africa University, and the church history committee. Dennis Callihan introduced visitors to the serene gathering, and anyone may join by calling Geraldine Wilson at 327-6237.

New rules ease IRA withdrawals and beneficiary changes
Experts explain that new IRS rules, effective this year, let you adjust withdrawals from IRAs and 401 ks without irrevocable limits at age 70 1 2. You can use tables based on joint life expectancy with a younger spouse or change beneficiaries freely, and you may still start even if you already began RMDs. Seek CP A or elder-law advice to tailor options and avoid penalties.
