Deadlines in new GI Bill for post Korea veterans
The Veterans Administration urges direct contact with the appropriate agency for GI Bill information. Post Korea education must start by August 20, 1954, or five years after discharge, whichever is later, and training cannot exceed seven years after discharge or seven years after the end of the current emergency. WWII veterans face a July 25, 1956 start limit, with loans valid 10 years after the emergency ends, and unemployment benefits expire five years after the emergency ends. The emergency end date is set by presidential proclamation or congressional resolution.
