Larger Dairy Herds More Profitable
A Blue Valley Creamery Institute study led by Prof. H. H. Kildee at Iowa State College argues that expanding herds from six to twelve cows makes dairying a business. Larger herds enable similar equipment use, higher quality cream marketing, and more frequent shipping, boosting income despite milk handling costs. Rich mammalian remains found near Cherokee Iowa is noted in a closing line.
