Appeals court reinstates New's murder charge
The 9th District Court of Appeals revived the murder charge against 71 year old Bobbie New for the 1976 killing of Dorothy Spencer in Camden Township after finding Judge Burge erred in deeming the delay in charging New unjustified. The case traces to a 45 year old victim beaten and shot in her trailer March 14 1976, with New a longtime suspect who vanished after the slaying. Perry Strader later testified his uncle confessed and helped cover up.
