London reports say Foreign Secretary Anthony Eden met Queen Elizabeth II prompting renewed talk that Winston Churchill may announce his retirement soon. Churchill, aged 79, faces pressure from his wife and doctors to quit the premiership.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports Cleveland's food price index up nine tenths of a percent while Cincinnati's consumer price index holds steady for the three months ending in June.
Paris reports French Air Force nurse Genevieve de Galard Terraube known as the Angel of Dien Bien Phu will depart Paris by plane Sunday night for New York. She is visiting the United States at Congress invites for a public tour and talks.
Apex Electrical Manufacturing Co. in Sandusky will close temporarily due to a parts shortage starting Friday. General manager H. A. Klingenberger said about 325 employees will be idle after the second shift, while 40 workers will stay on as a standby maintenance crew.

McCarthy seeks detailed briefing from Defense Secretary Wilson and Attorney General Brownell, with Brucker to speak for Wilson. Also noted, Don A.
