Milk Marketing Area Changes Boosted Price for Dairymen
A Wellington area dairy meeting heard that enlarging the Cleveland Milk Marketing Area by the U S Department of Agriculture raised payments to farmers. J W Hartsock, manager of the Dairy Producers Co operative Federation council, compared prices before and after the federal pricing order and noted increased earnings for members.
Milk price gains for Lorain County dairy coop leaders say June price higher
Hartsock reports the June Class 1 price rose 6 cents per hundredweight under the federal supply demand formula, with 5 percent more milk in the top Class 1 category than a year prior, boosting the blend price. The increase offsets the federal order fee and supports local and Cleveland-area producers. Eight Wellington-area members were nominated for District 5 advisory council posts, with additional nominations to come at a future meeting.
