Lorain County reports its first Zika case, a Lorain woman who traveled to the Caribbean tested positive. Health officials stress the virus is not locally transmitted, note mild symptoms in most cases, and warn about possible mother to child transmission for pregnant or planning-to-be-pregnant individuals.
Elyria man Graham Ley, 34, in a motorized wheelchair, pleaded guilty to aggravated robbery and trespass for a 2015 August incident at C Supermarket. He stole magazines, brandished a machete, and was ordered to report to Lorain Correctional Institution to begin a three year term. An accomplice, D Arron Dasi, 32, was arrested on a complicity warrant as police close in on the main suspect.
Monique Overstreet, 23, was sentenced to two years probation for a sexual relationship with an 18-year-old student while employed at Lorain County Joint Vocational School. She must relinquish teaching credentials and cannot work with children again.
One year before Angela Hall vanished she aided Lorain police by detailing her boyfriend William King's robberies. In October 1996 at Rimi Rego store on Meister Road, King robbed the drawer with a gun while Hall waited in the car. A Springfield warrant connected a man named Dante Burnette to similar crimes, and later King was identified as Burnette by police. A firearm and camouflage bag were found beneath Hall's car seat during a 1996 stop.
