Weight loss by fasting fails long term
Obese patients in a Los Angeles study lost up to 99 pounds during two to three months of fasting but regained weight within three years. Of 207 morbidly obese adults, 50 percent returned to original weight within three years, seven remained reduced after seven years. Researchers call from Wadsworth VA Hospital. Coronary hospitalization evidence suggests safe early discharge for some heart attack patients by day seven, potentially cutting hospital stays and costs. The NIH study notes 40 percent may be eligible for early discharge, with 400,000 discharges annually. implications for health care costs.
